Soup Kitchen

For more than 30 years, The Detroit Muslim Mission has been "feeding hungry people and nourishing our communities.” Last year we distributed 50,000 pounds of food to the community. We could not have done it without your generous support. This year, our goal is to distribute over 100,000 pounds of food to the less fortunate in our community. We cannot do it without your continued, generous support.

Project Activity I

Soup Kitchen DMM operates a soup kitchen every Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The Soup Kitchen prepares hot, nutritious meals for 50-100 persons one day per week.  The Soup Kitchen is located at Masjid Wali Muhammad located at 11529 Linwood Ave., in Detroit.  Meals will be served to seniors, low and moderate income households in the target area. The percentage of low and moderate income persons residing in the defined area is 70%. Services will be provided to all eligible households regardless of race, national origin, religion, or disability status.

Project Activity II

Food Pantry DMM  operates a food pantry every 3rd & 4th Saturday of the month from 10am - 2pm.  The food pantry provides boxes of nutritious food for 200-250 low & moderate income persons.  Priority for the boxes will go to households with children, unemployed adults and seniors in the target area.  Delivery of food boxes is available for home-bound seniors and disabled persons in the target area.  Boxes are distributed from 11529 Linwood Ave.  Services will be provided to all eligible households regardless of race, national origin, religion or disability status.
